Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've updated you all on Flat S's whereabouts, but let me tell you—she’s been having the time of her life! After last seeing her lounging by the Mediterranean coast soaking up the Spanish sun, Flat S took off on an epic road trip across Spain. She’s been zipping around in an old Spanish car (I remember now—the jug on the roof is for collecting rainwater to save on water usage—it’s super eco-friendly!). Along the way, she’s stopped to meet up with fellow sewists who follow the popular Spanish fabric shop, Telaria. Oh, and she even designed her very own logo for this adventure—how cool is that? Since her last check-in, Flat S has traveled far and wide, visiting some of Spain’s most iconic spots. Her journey is marked on this map below—pretty impressive, right? Her Spanish hostesses have been keeping us posted through their blogs and emails filled with pictures and stories of Flat S’s travels. Click through to get all the juicy details of her stops! Flat S began her journey just outside Barcelona and made her first stop in Benidorm, a bustling seaside resort. There, she spent her days soaking up the sun alongside Charo, her husband, and countless other tourists. It’s no wonder this place is packed with energy—it’s absolutely vibrant! Next, she hopped over to Valencia, which is super close to Benidorm. There, she indulged in some fantastic Spanish cuisine thanks to her hostess, Momita. Flat S clearly knows how to eat well while traveling! After Valencia, Flat S took a flight to Mallorca, a stunning island in the Mediterranean. While there, she became fast friends with J, Maria José’s son. Together, they played kids’ games, learned some knitting, and even took sewing lessons—a perfect weekend getaway! Back on the mainland, Flat S headed to Madrid, the heart of Spain. There, she spent a memorable day in the park with Sonia and Sofia. They must have had a blast exploring the city together! The following day, Flat S visited Diana and Atenea. Diana dressed her in a traditional Goyesca suit she specially crafted, and they embarked on a cultural excursion to Alcalá de Henares, a historic town brimming with charm and delicious food. Unlike the real S, Flat S adores Spanish cuisine—she can never get enough jamón! From there, Flat S ventured north to Asturias, where she met Ana. They explored the region’s unique architecture and celebrated its renowned gastronomy, not to mention joining in on the lively festivals. Still in northern Spain, Flat S traveled to Euskadi, known for its lush green landscapes. Maider showed her the breathtaking scenery, and of course, Flat S couldn’t resist sampling the legendary Basque cuisine. Next, Flat S made her way down to Sevilla in southern Spain. There, she reunited with many friends and joined in on fun activities with the kids. On Halloween, she felt right at home trick-or-treating with Maria and her daughters. In the heart of Sevilla, Flat S spent a delightful day in the city center with Lola and Carmen. Like Liesl, Flat S is a huge fan of beautiful Spanish tiles—they’re just mesmerizing! As Flat S continued her travels, she found herself back near Barcelona. She spent some more quality time with her friends Miren (Telaira’s founder), Miren’s husband Carlos, and their daughter. They even took Flat S to a flamenco class—what a treat! Before wrapping up her Spanish adventure, Flat S had one last stop—Girona, a picturesque medieval city. Mari Cruz from Barcelona brought her along for a quick weekend getaway, and it was absolutely magical. Finally, Flat S returned to Barcelona for a proper send-off. With Monica’s children, she celebrated her farewell-to-Spain bash. What a whirlwind journey it’s been! What an incredible few months Flat S has had in Spain!
