Hello friends! I hope you're doing well. As some of you may recall, months ago I shared that I was working on a project involving the Lisette for Butterick B6598 skirt. At the time, I had managed to cut out the pieces, but then life got busy with spring sewing projects, and before I knew it, I found myself diving headfirst into those patterns. Honestly, there just wasn't enough time for my own sewing until recently. Once the spring patterns were finally sent off to the printer, I finally had the chance to sit down and work on this skirt. Here it is, at long last. ![Lisette B6598](src="https://example.com/image.jpg" alt="Lisette B6598") I ended up using a plaid wool, which I'm thrilled about. It's such a great choice for this pattern. One thing I did differently was take the little ruffle from the front blouse, extend its length, and incorporate it into the front seam, just as I had envisioned in my original sketch. Initially, we decided to remove this ruffle from the pattern because it seemed a bit too much, especially since it was also part of the top. However, without the top, I think the extra touch works beautifully. Here’s my original sketch alongside the final pattern cover. Isn't it interesting how the fabric changes the entire vibe of the design? This more menswear-inspired fabric really tones down the feminine ruching and gives it a completely different feel. ![Lisette for Butterick B6598 skirt](src="https://example.com/image2.jpg" alt="Lisette for Butterick B6598 skirt") Aside from adding the extended ruffle, I didn't make any other changes to the pattern. While I could technically wear it without the belt, the additional detail adds a nice flair when I want to emphasize the silhouette a bit more. ![Lisette B6598](src="https://example.com/image3.jpg" alt="Lisette B6598") ![Lisette B6598](src="https://example.com/image4.jpg" alt="Lisette B6598") One thing I absolutely love about this skirt is the back seam with the invisible zipper. It’s one of those things where I got incredibly lucky—no adjustments needed at all. That’s not always the case, trust me! ![Lisette B6598](src="https://example.com/image5.jpg" alt="Lisette B6598") ![Lisette B6598](src="https://example.com/image6.jpg" alt="Lisette B6598") As someone who frequently wears pencil skirts, this version feels like a refreshing twist on a classic wardrobe staple. It’s been so much fun to wear! If you haven’t tried this pattern yet, I highly recommend it. It could look fantastic in linen, crepe, or even tropical wool for spring and summer.
